Sexually Transmitted Diseases - The Female Condom, a Barrier Method

STDs are infections transmitted sexually. Sexual activity may transmit pathogens that cause STDs. Contact vaginal penis is not a requirement for the transmission. You can get an STD through oral genital contact. The vagina, penis and mouth are lined with mucous membranes and are also vulnerable to bacteria and viruses that cause STDs.

There are many types of sexually transmitted diseases and all are caused by a microorganism.

bacterial STDs

The most common are chlamydia and gonorrhea. Chlamydia is caused by a bacterium called Chlamydia trachomatis and gonorrhea is caused by the bacterium Neisseria gonorrhoeae. Since these two STDs are caused by bacteria treated with antibiotics. However, recently there have been some difficulties with this type of treatment that responsible agencies develop resistance. Some people can be treated with antibiotics and think they are cured, but in fact, if you have a variety resistant pathogens your infection can be successfully treated and the infection continues to be transmitted to others.

Symptoms of STDs such as gonorrhea and chlamydia may not be noticed first. Some people have "silent" infections that do not cause noticeable symptoms until the infection has spread. This is a particularly serious complication in women because if the infection goes into the uterus and the woman's fallopian tubes may have a serious pelvic infection. This is known as pelvic inflammatory disease. Infertility can result.

Viruses are also one of the causes of sexually transmitted diseases. The two most common are genital herpes and genital warts.

Herpes or genital herpes is caused by a virus progenital of the same family as the virus that causes cold sores and chicken pox. All warts are caused by a virus, and genital warts are caused by the human papilloma virus (HPV). HPV in women is known to cause cervical cancer.

Unlike STDs caused by bacteria that there is no way to cure an infection caused by one of these viruses. Once you have to have it forever. The virus remains in you for life. The infection is usually characterized by periods of exacerbation when the virus is active and causing symptoms, and periods of remission when the virus is latent. Meanwhile, rashes or obvious signs of the disease are not noticeable. However, even during remissions you still have the virus in your system.

STD Prevention

Like any infection to prevent the spread of the causative agent is the best way to control the spread of the disease.

STD prevention is to take responsibility to protect yourself and others from infection transmission. You would not go see a person with TB and enable cough in your face. The same precautions are necessary to protect against STDs. If you are in a monogamous relationship always 100% committed to use a condom.

Condoms are available everywhere. Grocery stores, drug stores, convenience stores and distributors make condoms available to all. You can even have them delivered right to your door by courier. There is no excuse for not knowing how to use a condom and penis.

The male condom is what most people think of when the word condom is used. This is a simple latex sheath that is rolled over the erect penis. The proper way to use a condom is to ensure that applied prior to contact with the skin or mucous membranes. Provide a barrier between the mucosal surfaces of sexual partners and thus prevents the body is transmitted between the two.

Female condoms are also available. However, they may not be as readily available as the condom penis most commonly used. The female condom is best described as a latex coating specially designed for the vagina. In the closed end of a ring which is required to keep the condom in place around the neck and the outer end of the condom seems very similar to a condom ring. However, the female condom is not taking place as a condom penis. In fact, it's more like a small bag with a ring at both ends. Practice and skill to the correct insertion is required. Like their male counterparts, the female condom is disposable.

The use of a protective barrier is most effective for the prevention of STDs way. The female condom is an alternative to condoms most commonly used penis and allows the female partner to be completely in control of the necessary barrier to prevent the spread of STDs.
