What Causes Erectile Dysfunction?

The first thing to know is the process of male sexual arousal. This is a very complex process involving the brain, hormones and emotions. It also involves the nerves, muscles and blood vessels. If there is nothing wrong with any of these systems, erectile dysfunction may occur.

The penis consists of two cylindrical structures in a kind of spongy tissue. When a man is sexually aroused, the brain sends a nerve that causes blood to flow into the spongy muscles that expands many times its size boost. This blood flow to the penis is what causes the penis to harden for an erection.

If sexual stimulation continues, the blood is retained in the penis, which keeps firmness. After ejaculation, or sexual excitement passes, additional blood drains on the penis returns to its flaccid size and shape.

So what causes erectile dysfunction? The element that is often debate and expected time to have been caused by physicians psychological factors. But this is not always the case. Although stress and self-esteem are two of the most common reasons for, the main factor causing erectile dysfunction is a lack of attention to individual health. People who are in poor health or take drugs are often more likely to experience erectile dysfunction. A common physical problems that cause erectile dysfunction is overweight or obese.

There are other diseases that cause erectile dysfunction. For example, heart disease or atherosclerosis or clogged blood vessels causes erectile dysfunction, as it prevents healthy blood circulation is essential for the assembly. Diabetes, high blood pressure and thyroid problems also contribute to the disease.

Another problem that causes erectile dysfunction is pelvic surgery. This may impede the flow of blood, or even break the nerve cells and inhibit erection. The brain also plays a key role in enabling the erection process, which begins with sexual arousal or excitement. Emotional problems such as depression, anxiety, stress, fatigue or lack of sexual communication can cause or worsen erection problems. In many cases, through physical and psychological pressure is the reason for erectile dysfunction. For example, a man who already has some minor physical problems such as high cholesterol, anxiety can build on maintaining an erection long enough. The resulting problem can be a prolonged erection problem.
